Child welfare at Warmley Rangers FC

Warmley Rangers Football club is committed to ensuring all necessary steps are taken to protect children and young people who participate in football at all levels. The club is backed by the FA in the belief that all young people have the right to participate in football in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse.

My name is Kelly Hawker. As well as being a parent of one of the boys playing for the club,  I am the designated Child Welfare Officer for Warmley Rangers Football Club.

Any concerns, suspicions or allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.

If you have any concerns at all, whether you are a player, parent, manager or friend, please contact me:

kellyhawkerwrfc@gmail.com

Tel: 07811 844077

Any conversations or information provided will be dealt with in an appropriate and confidential way.

If you have a concern about the welfare of a Child or Young Person or about an Adults behaviour towards a Child or Young person what would you do?

In the first instance you should highlight this to your Team Manager or CWO, if this is not appropriate then you can contact;

Hugh Feltham, Designated Safeguarding Officer at the GFA

Mobile: 07960 500130 Email: Safeguarding@GloucestershireFA.com

or contact the

FA / NSPCC 24 hour Hotline number 0808 800 5000

or email The FA Safeguarding Team E-mail Safeguarding.Children@thefa.com

Do you know what the FA's whistle blowing policy is?

Whistle-blowing can be used as an early warning system or when it’s recognised that appropriate actions have not been taken. This approach or policy is adopted in many different

walks of life. It is about revealing and raising concerns over misconduct or malpractice within an organisation or within an independent structure associated with it. Please use the contact information provided above.

Please ensure you speak with your child or young person about who to speak to if they have any Safeguarding concerns. There is also plenty of guidance on the GFA website https://www.gloucestershirefa.com/

Parents can also complete the FREE Safeguarding For All course which can be found at: https://thebootroom.thefa.com/learning/qualifications/safeguarding-courses

Let Children Play

They stand on the field with their heart beating fast

The whistle has blown, the die has been cast

Mum and Dad cannot help, they stand all alone

A goal at this moment would send the team home

The ball near their feet, they kick and it misses

There’s a moan from the crowd, some boos and some hisses

A thoughtless voice cries ‘take off the bum’

Tears fill their eyes, it’s no longer fun

If you’re ever tempted to shout or to groan

Remember it’s a child, who stands all alone

So open your heart, give them a break

It’s moments like this, a player you make

Keep this in mind, please do not forget

They’re only children, not adults yet!
